Whimsy: an odd fancy; an idle notion; curious, quaint, or fanciful humor.

Whimsicality is a bit of a tradition in my family. My best memories of childhood include my father
laying his jogging clothes on the floor, positioned as though they were running by themselves; or
lying on the floor, with his feet up in the air, hoping to surprise an unsuspecting family member with his
dead chicken impression.

There is a comfort to be found in whimsy that surpasses even good chocolate. It's a comfort that
says, "You were right all along, not only does God have a sense of humor, She enjoys sharing an
occasional inside joke." It's like a mini-enlightenment that brightens the dreariest of days.

What makes art whimsical? Whimsical art is a combination of images, colors, and qualities that
reach deep inside you to activate your Inner Light. When it happens, you won't be able to contain
yourself, you may even be forced to chuckle. This is how I feel when I see the work of a whimsical
mind, and it is what moves me to make certain choices with my own work.
