ABOUT THE ARTIST
While most artists create a piece by reaching for a pen, pencil or
brush, Gold Medal artist. Jerry Pavey prefers more bulky tools... to
sew, weave, weld or glue his stunning collages, sculptures and
assemblages... transforming a naive calico fabric into a field full
of flowers, welding various metals to form the hard shell of a
Chesapeake Bay Crab, or converting torn pieces of textured paper
into the graceful feathers of an American Bald Eagle.
His imaginative choices of media, styles and concepts... though
quite elegant in creation, execution and presentation... have a
charm and innocence that very quickly captures the viewer’s
fascination and draws them into the very heart of his unique
imagery!
- He has received more than 300 Gold, Silver and Special Gold Medals
For Innovation awards from some very prestigious groups. His art is
a part of the permanent collections of the New York Museum Of
American Art, Goodwill Industries, Exxon-Mobil, Brookings
Institution, National Institutes of Health, Farm Credit Banks of New
York and numerous private collections.
